There are many women groups in Mirmi, Syangja – only a few are organized, while many not so. The Janaswea Aama Samuha (Mother Group) is long presided by Mrs. Gomata Bhattarai. The existing members are not coming to take up her responsibility to act in such capacity. Their confidence level is low. The capacity building programs are almost zero. They are not listening to budget announcements and fiscal benefits.
‘The time has changed since we founded the mother group. We are confined into a small geography. The numerous sustainability challenges are there. Women are doing so many things, nowadays. The technologies have also advanced. I want to transfer my capacity to a qualified member, but to who?’ I am 61 years old now,’ Mrs. Gomata Bhattarai stated in dismay.

The women have businesses, but their efforts are not institutionalized. They are not collecting membership fees. They do not have identity cards that indicate their membership with a particular group. They lack minimum best practices including secretarial practices to run the organization. However, most of the women groups have opened the bank accounts to streamline the business transaction.

Some women are getting into homestay businesses, who are looking for office management trainings. The cross-community knowledge transfer and legacy planning are almost inexistent, which requires big investment of time. Kaligandaki Aama Samuha is the oldest mother group, which strives to work hard for the community members was registered in twenty third day of Baisakh in 2051 B.S. The group is presided by Mrs. Kamala Kumari Bhusal. She has passed twelfth standard.
