Nishant Adhikari is 22 years old now. He is quiet. He assists his mother in all type of household jobs including odd jobs; and follows every command. He participates in every social function. He dances and identifies his friends and relatives. He changes bed linen, makes his bed, sweeps and mops his room himself. ‘Nishant grew up disciplined, dependable, playful, and thoughtful; nothing wrong ever happened with him,’ her mother said. ‘He participates in everything, cooperates and gives respect to others,’ she added further. He sounded confident when he made tea for all of us.


Nishant was admitted to a regular school. He always attended his school with his cousin, who performed outstandingly in their academic pursuit and were promoted to higher classes every year. Nishant never passed, but merely followed his cousin every year the academic session opened. The teachers never expected him to pass, but learn what he just could. His friends finished their tenth standard. Their school program ended. Nishant never went to school after. His friends left him back in the village forever. His progress was never dictated in the academic progress report.


When he was eight, he would write english and nepali well – from alphabets to numbers. His early days well illustrated his growth and development when he was going to school, reading, writing, and playing with his friends. For years, he has been struggling with speaking even to his family members though it had taken tremendous cost of time, energy, and hard work to learn little things he could. Despite his inability to compare himself to others, he is no different from other. It is difficult to imagine what he really feels like as a boy, which all boys of his age do.


His eyes condition is not good; his visual perception needs to be checked up and requires immediate and appropriate diagnosis and treatment. His dorsal skin is rough, the impairment of which must be medically determined. He has undergone no treatment of his eyes and skin.
